We are currently working with a multibillion-dollar bespoke manufacturing business, that due to various recent acquisitions, are currently recruiting for a Continuous Improvement Engineer. The business specialises in bespoke manufacturing within both assembly and tailored manufacturing applications and are part of a global group.

The business has experienced incredible growth over recent years and boasts a worldwide workforce of over 28,000. As part of their growth and acquisitions, they are looking for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to lead and develop continuous improvement activities across 2 sites as well as improving the overall effectiveness and presence of the continuous improvement culture.

The Role

The role of the Continuous Improvement Engineer is to support the Continuous Improvement Manager in developing and delivering continuous improvement/lean structures, tools, and techniques across the organisation. As well as supporting the development and execution of annual continuous improvement plans aiding the delivery of the organisation's annual goals and objectives.

Day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and drive continuous improvements to meet safety, cost, quality, efficiency, and customer service objectives
  • Coordinate structured Kaizen activities across the organisation to increase productivity targets YOY aligned with organisational targets
  • Work closely with Business Unit Operations Teams to complete a gap analysis to identify areas of improvement by using a data-driven approach
  • Coach the Business Unit teams to investigate non-conformances and to develop appropriate corrective and preventive action plans
  • Promote and coordinate the sharing of best practices and continuous improvement initiatives from all sites
  • Manage and lead all continuous improvement activities across the two sites
  • Training the manufacturing and operation teams on continuous improvement techniques
  • Training the team on Six Sigma, 5S, 7 Waste, Gemba Walks, Value Stream Mapping, SMED and Poka-Yoke techniques
  • Introduce and improve the skills based on Process Control, Process Analysis and SPC (Statistical Process Control) Charts
  • Training all staff and promoting a continuous improvement culture with the introduction of structured problem-solving skill capabilities
  • Work to continuous improvement KPIs such as cost savings, number of people trained on continuous improvement, ongoing projects, target productivity and efficiency measurement
  • You will also manage KPIs such as productivity clocked hours vs productivity hours

The Candidate

For this Continuous Improvement Engineer role we are looking for someone with:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a Process / Continuous Improvement Engineer role within an engineering/manufacturing/operations environment
  • A relevant qualification within engineering or manufacturing (ideally HND or above)
  • Six Sigma Green belt as a minimum and in-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing tools
  • Track record of delivering continuous improvement
  • Computer Literate - ideally with strong experience within Microsoft Office tools - Power BI
  • Ability and experience of training/coaching staff at all levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Happy travelling between 2 sites - Rainham/Kent
