Job Description

The Ocean Conservation Trust is a global conservation charity focussed on habitat restoration and behaviour change, that owns and runs the National Marine Aquarium, one of Plymouth’s top tourist attractions.

We are looking to recruit a Facilities Manager with wide-ranging experience in service delivery and statutory compliance to lead a team of three Site Services staff and manage a complex public building.  Candidates should be able to demonstrate wide-ranging experience in FM delivery and be qualified in FM or a related discipline.

The role requires the ability to deliver project and resource management in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.  Of key importance is the ability to manage contracts and contractors.

This is a managerial position requiring good people, budget, task management and IT literacy. The role also requires the ability to be hands-on to lead fault-finding and reactive maintenance as and when needed. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, unflappable, resilient, and diplomatic.

This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours a week mainly Monday to Friday with an occasional requirement to work at a weekend or evenings to facilitate projects or emergency management. The salary will range from £35,000 - £39,500 per annum depending on experience.

We offer a company pension scheme, life assurance, staff discounts and an excellent working environment.

Closing Date: 6 July 2023. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if a suitable candidate is found.

In line with current legislation all applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK. As part of the recruitment process you will be asked to provide documented evidence of eligibility.

The OCT operates an Equality and Diversity Policy and is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community – a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit. Only candidates invited for interview will be contacted.
