A great opportunity to work for an amazing team, our client a University Student Accommodation provider are currently looking for Out of Hours Concierge Assistant to cover across sites in SE15 or SE5. You will be required to work 4 days on 4 days off over a 2 week rotating shift pattern from Monday to Sunday between the hours of 20.00 - 08.00
Job purpose of the Out of Hours Concierge Assistant:
- The Concierge Assistant will provide a friendly, professional front of house concierge service to students living within the University's managed halls of residence, offering support and assistance where required, ensuring a customer focused approach is maintained in keeping with the University's high standards of service.
- The appointee will work as part of a team to assist with the delivery of a 24/7 service to residents and guests, involving the execution of key tasks assigned by the Residence Management Team
- They will deliver a range of customer-focused support and premises services, in accordance with agreed service standards and user requirements, supporting, assisting and displaying professionalism to all whom they encounter including colleagues to create a one team approach to deliver exceptional resident living, taking pride in the look and feel of the property ensuring that it is always up to standard.
- The role holder will be expected to work flexibly within a 2-week rotating shift pattern from 20:00 - 08:00, over 7 days a week.
Duties and responsibilities of the Out of Hours Concierge Assistant:
- Provide a safe and secure environment for all students, staff and visitors and their personal property, as well as ensuring the security and safety of University buildings and equipment.
- Welcome late arriving student residents in a warm and welcoming manner, displaying exceptional customer service skills at all times and assisting students appropriately as and when required.
- Be aware of residents' wellbeing whilst on duty, reporting any concerns to the duty Out of Hours Residence Manager.
- Manage the post and parcel systems, ensuring all deliveries are accounted for and distributed to the relevant areas as outlined within standard operating procedures.
- Undertake daily inspections of premises (to include lighting, heating, fire extinguishers etc.) against a set checklist, reporting any issues to the duty Out of Hours Residence Manager.
- Ensure adoption and compliance with all published University health and safety guidance and code of practice documentation, procedures, systems, etc. as instructed by the duty Out of Hours Residence Manager
- Undertake regular patrols of all internal & external buildings, (inc. plant rooms, access points, exit points, delivery and evacuation areas) to ensure there are no unauthorised persons present and the areas are kept clear of obstructions and litter at all times.
- Regularly monitor the University's CCTV systems and maintain an effective key register/key issue control system, reporting any incidents or faults to the duty Out of Hours Residence Manager.
- Undertake general cleaning duties of communal areas, external grounds, reception areas & offices at designated times on a daily basis
- Ensure all cleaning consumables stock levels are monitored and recorded as instructed by the duty Out of Hours Residence Manager.
- Carry out cleaning of any vacant bedrooms as and when required.
- Ensure that bin storage areas are kept clean and tidy, and that paladins are safely transported to and from collection points as necessary. Ensure bins can be safely accessed by all residents upon their return
- Be conversant with the University's fire alarm activation procedures, and take the lead in all fire alarm activations, seeking advice and guidance from the duty Out of Hours Residence Manager as necessary.
- Immediately report all potentially suspicious packages, unattended valuables, suspicious vehicles and persons identified during your patrols to the duty Out of Hours Residence Manager and after advice, take any follow up action as required.
- Immediately report all Health & Safety hazards to the duty Out of Hours Residence Manager and instigate procedures to alleviate any further risk or damage to property or persons.
- Ensure the integrity of University's security systems is maintained at all times within all managed Halls of residence
Experience and skills required for the Out of Hours Concierge Assistant:
- Experience of security, portering and mail handling operations - SIA licence diserable
- Experience of customer facing facilities management services, worked in a similar role
- Experience of understanding COSSH requirements for cleaning
- Some basic maintenance skills
- Good customer skills, to be able to deal with issues as first point of contact
- To be able to demonstrate pastoral care support and identify safeguarding support in dealing with student welfare and health & safety within a hall of residence or similar environment
- Able to work lone working and work under pressure and use problem solving skills
- Basic computer skills - able to use word, excel, emails.
Hours & Salary for the Out of Hours Concierge Assistant:
- This is at a starting salary of £26,928.00 per annum (Grade 2 : £26,928.00 - £30,777.00 per annum)
- 35 hrs per week over a 7 day pattern
- Shift pattern, fortnightly rotation : work 4 days on 3 days off then 3 days on 4 days off, working dates between Monday to Sunday
- 8pm - 8am
