Senior Drainage Engineer responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee high-pressure jetting operations to clear blockages, cleanse pipework, and maintain drainage systems.
  • Supervise CCTV surveying operations, working closely with the jetting team to ensure accurate inspections and assessments.
  • Manage the installation of patch liners and other remedial solutions.
  • Plan, oversee, and safely execute deep and complex confined space entries, including rescue operations.
  • Provide expertise in pipework remedials such as civil engineering, robotic cutting, and lining.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and assess the performance of teams and equipment.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise drainage engineers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational best practices.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other departments to efficiently schedule and coordinate drainage works.
  • Respond promptly to emergency drainage situations, minimising disruption to services.
  • Possess knowledge of a wide range of jetting units, survey units, and other remedial and safety equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and that operatives have the necessary tools and training.

Senior Drainage Engineer responsibilities

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience as a senior drainage engineer, with extensive knowledge of drainage services and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop others.
  • Valid UK driving licence and the ability to operate commercial vehicles, such as jetting vans.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure during emergencies.
  • Comprehensive health and safety awareness, with knowledge of industry standards in utilities operations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with team members and clients.
  • Current training and certifications are highly desirable, including:
    • High-risk confined space and rescue.
    • High-pressure water jetting.
    • NRAWSA Unit 2.
    • First Aid.
    • CSCS.
    • SSSTS.
    • OS19X.
